ABOUT US:
Jupiter² was built in the Philippines by an Australian designer for Jamie. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.

Hopefully some inspiration to “Quit Job and Go Sailing”.

  1. i was gonna say ,"a cork..a cork rocks"…but a cork bob's….it's a " Robin"…a 'Robin Rocks'…Lol

  2. i knoe you think lock tite would be better but antisieze stops stainless steel threads fro galling

  3. Good episode…..Staloks rock. Good idea w/ alu tape on wiring for protection. Wondering how you tensioned the 12mm wire, and how tight you keep it? You are lucky at 0400 you were not picked up for dealing meth in Pensacola…..thanks, Andrew/ Stan the Man

  4. Hi Jamie ,Thanks for another great video. As a DIY rigging replacement will that affect your insurance?
Like Marco says below, were also looking forward to apply from your learnings.
Were heading over to Europe in early October to begin our own full time 5 year+ sailing odyssey…Cheers Nige from Noosa.

  5. check out YT James Hoffman on the correct Moka Pot technique (The Ultimate Moka Pot Technique (Episode #3)) rather than boiling the crap out of it and ending up with bitter coffee – unless you like it that way – great show – hope the numbers slowly build – all good from OZ

  6. Excellent stuff as usual. You maintain that new yacht as if it was a old Boeing 737 with hundreds of souls on board…

  7. You know im going to comment and hit the thumb. Congrats on 100 episodes thats alot of hard work. I feels like your channels going to pop off soon. Ive been catching up lately and the quality only gets better!

  8. Well done. Though I must say, with everything removed, Jupiter made a very sexy motor cat 😊. I've heard that Mumby made/makes a motor cat….true or false? Any details would be great. Cheers 👍

  9. Funny watch'n the riggers. Us Aussies have to wear hi-vis long sleeve shirts/pants, steal cap boots, hard hat, protective gloves & glasses, yet prob still have more injuries than 3rd world countries.

  10. Congrats on getting that mast up and what a great video to inspire and encourage the rest of us. 🙂 I just love your boat and dream someday of being a fellow Mumby owner.

  11. How long does it take to complete the Great Loop? I imagine removing the mast might occur when entering the Great Lakes? Is there a preferred time of year to do it?

  12. I do believe your showing us how this was all done was fascinating. Thank you so much. I was truly engaged.

  13. I can't wait to replace my back stay on my little 18' pocket cruiser now. Living in rural Wyoming there are no riggers for hundreds of miles. I am also really pumped that Jupiter 2 is a sailboat again!

  14. So many sailboats running around with 20,30,40 year old rigging with cracks in chainplates, cracks in swaged ends, corroded cable inside the swages. They are tempting disaster. I’m an aircraft mechanic just getting into sailing and looking at boats for sale. I have to say sailboats are some of the most neglected vehicles I’ve encountered.

  15. Not “may effect integrity’ , but will. Why? Those fibres are heat treated to the right temp when extruding. You re-heating alters that “tempering’ and could make it bridal or more elastic than it was intended. Oopsey 😊

  16. The rigger should do it all. His getting paid to do it. Why should you have to adjust the mask rake?

  17. I have a few comments and questions.
    1. When you did the first fitting, you removed wire from the slot, then immediately pushed another wire into the slot. Looks like it wasn't a problem since you did a second check and the slot was clear. Shows the importance of the second check.
    2. I'm not sure about that particular Loctite, but a lot of those compounds need clean dry threads. When you put the caulking in place, it was all over the threads. I think this would negate the function of the Loctite. Very likely not a problem since the original design calls for anti-seize. Did you read or hear somewhere about replacing anti-seize with Loctite?
    3. How much did it cost you to hire that crane? Or was that included in the whole mast installation package?

This was a very interesting video. Nice to see the process.

  18. Love your channel,,,,The reason for the anti seize is because stainless galls, you're going to be in a state of fucked if it does. No real reason for Loctite, Teflon tape maybe, Loctite? meh not so much.

  19. Not bad but you should have put down a piece of styrofoam under the mast like solid foam board insulation.prevents dents as the foam deforms.
