Nachi Waterfall with Japanese Waka Poetry 那智滝 #shorts

#shorts

A view of Nachi Waterfall, a famous waterfall in Wakayama prefecture, with a 133 meter drop, the tallest waterfall in Japan with a single drop. The poem is from a 12th Century anthology of waka poetry. The author Higo is the name for Lady Hitachi, the daughter of the Governor of Higo Province (today Kumamoto) who lived in the early 12th Century. The music is from a performance I caught at Edo Museum around New Years.
