On August 9, 2022, I went to Nogata, Nakano-ku, Tokyo. Nogata has two aspects. One is the setting of Haruki Murakami’s novel “Kafka on the Shore”. The other is the site of a black market. As a city walker, I am interested in the Nogata Cultural Market, which is the site of a black market. Nogata suffered little damage from the war, and customers from other towns used to visit this place, which used to be a fresh food market. Although there are still stores in the market today, many of them are closed during the daytime. I was impressed by the different world from the outside.
