Trivia: I have no idea why they named the street at 8:23 “Dobuita St” in the first place? It’s hard to translate but “Dobuita” means “A lid/lids to cover gutters/ditches/drains where filthy water flows/pools”. It’s not a very nice name to name a street is it? I wonder what happed in the past when they named it…

Did you hear someone was singing Mariah Carey’s “Hero” somewhere in an amazing voice at 37:55? After shooting this video I looked for the singer and found her. I asked her if I can upload her video on the Internet and she said yes. So here is a bonus video of her singing Beyoncé’s “Listen”. Unfortunately I don’t know her name but please enjoy her stunning voice!

  1. お元気ですか。 A very enjoyable walk, Yoshi-san. Lively streets, so much activity, so many things to do. Delicious street food. Thank you!

  2. Is Yokohama the position of Incheon in terms of Korea? I remember passing through Enoshima. It was a long time ago. I want to go. 😥😥😥

  3. What sparked my interest , besides various small details like a submarine bench 15:37 , Betty Boop 17:40 and the pretty Fuji shop sign 11:19 , the thing at 18:22 to the left, was the shop at 19:57 which sells baby sized suits. Those jackets , for example the shop 20:16 or the one next to the cute front painting 22:15 sells in kids size , seem very popular. I remember the singer of Tiger Army wearing a similar one with Korea on the back in MV Dark and lonely night.
I put only one timestamp beside this today which is the very sad cone at 27:43 .
Trivia : Honch refers to the “adult amusement” spot of us navy soldiers and this city has spots that inspired the 80’s video game Shenmue.

  4. Another great video that brought back a lot of great memories. Especially when you walked down the bar street "The Honch" as we call it.

  5. Great tour! I have visited Japan several times but did not know this city. Thanks for showing Yokosuka streets! It looks a very nice city.
13:40 If you just show me this bar I would think you are in Spain😄
    Greetings from Spain! 👋🙂

  6. This brings back memories of being stationed there back in the early 2000's, especially the crazy weekends out at Dobuita St. Kind of sad to see how empty it is now, but it is understandable. Thanks for bringing back a blast from the past!

  7. Thank you for these. I lived in Ikegami from 1994 to 1996 as my husband was stationed these in Yokosuka. You have brought back so many memories. Can you go to Ikegami so I can see what it looks like now? We lived in a house these.

  8. Wow ! They've got a mall there like we have in U.S.!!! I didn't know ! Since when !? I enjoyed watching this one ! Thanks !💜💜💜💜🥁🎵🐉🎤🎶💕💞

  9. Another great video!! Brought back so much amazing memories and the blurred memories of "The Honch" ! Keep up the great work!! がんばって!

  10. An enjoyable evening walk! Street browsing, walking through those small alley, food … give me a chance to virtually visit this place since I do not have a chance to visit Japan this year. Nice !!

  11. I saw your previous video. I was stationed at Yokosuka in the early 2000's.
4:30 at the Yokosuka Arts Theater I and a couple of other shipmates got the opportunity to see the internationally famous taiko drum group Kodo less than a year before I left. It almost didn't happen because I was scheduled for a deployment before the tickets went on sale. Someone's wife had to get them for me. Luckily the deployment wasn't extended as they often were at the time. I had known about Kodo from movies like Rising Sun and The Hunted. I have 4 of their albums. It was an absolutely exhilarating experience. The show was so massive and the venue was great. Probably the single most culturally significant thing I did there.

  12. I never remember this Burger King 25:12. I had to go to a US Army or Air Force base for that. I remember the yakitori alley stand at 25:50. That was 15 years ago.

  13. さあ、すごかったよ。逗子にすうんでました。主人はU.S. Navy 医者でした。もう”Blue Street” は過ごしたいです。ありがとうございました。

  14. In the 60's this place was wide open hundreds of bars cheap women. Tores and water was the drink. Women were slick to take your money. I loved it I was there for two years. The girls would not have anything to do with base sailors when the fleet was in. Most of us had a shack up. Great memories

  15. thank you for sharing this walk of Yokosuka. This was very helpful in me getting familiar with the place I plan to visit in the next year 2022.
