今回は、中国地方の中西部に位置した中国地方最大の都市である広島県広島市内を走る路面電車、広島電鉄に乗車します。（広島駅発、広島港行き。）
アニメ「転生したらスライムだった件」の主人公リムルをデザインしたラッピングトレインが1年以上をかけて全国の路面電車に擬態して回ることになっているそうですが、広島電鉄に乗車した際に、まさか乗り合わせる事になるとは思ってもいませんでした。
広島市は、世界史上初めて核兵器で爆撃された都市としても広く知られており、原爆ドームと合わせて世界的に知名度が高い街でもあります。
第二次世界大戦後は、重工業やマツダなどの自動車産業を中心に見事に復興し、現在では人口も100万人を突破し、日本の主要な工業都市にもなっています。
ちなみ広島市は、地方中枢都市の中で唯一地下鉄が通っていない街です。市内の主な交通は、路面電車とバスが担っています。
特に路面電車は規模・乗車人数において国内最大であり、日本一の路面電車の街と言っても過言ではありません。
