There are many ways to experience Raja Ampat in West Papua, Indonesia. Here is what to expect if you choose to travel to and explore a local village with your family. We would highly recommend visiting the Saporkren Village, just outside of Waisai (Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia). Ask someone to guide you through the village, learn about betel nut, tour the cemetery, swim on the beach, and drink coconuts. There are so many kids to play soccer with, a game of tag, or to teach you how to fish. Speak with the locals and learn all about the village life. Saporkren Village has some of the friendliest people we have met. It is just a short walk from the homestay, as well (see our last video). West Papua has so much to offer! Join us on this off-the-beaten-path side trip, as we immerse ourselves into the culture.

  2. What I really like from your videos, you came to a place not for a mainstream tourism object, but you wandered to some unseen places, an authentic and very local atmosphere. That's why it's so interesting for me. So thank you for bringing me to my Indonesian places that I have never stepped.

  3. Pinang is also used to strengthen the teeth, it prevent from the gum therefore their teeth last longer without dentist treatment

  4. Just to give you some info that ibu/pak used to married or older person while for teens or unmarried called Nona for female and nyong for male

  5. "Pak" is short for "bapak" means "sir/father" and "buk" is short for "ibuk" means "mam/mother".
For kids you can call "dik" short for "adik" means little brother/sister.
Actually, little kids will laugh if you call them "buk", it's like addressing middle school female students with "mam" in USA. Sounds funny right? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
And you can call "kak" short for "kakak" means elder brother/sister.
In some parts of Indonesia they may have some specific nicknames to call each other but "bapak, ibuk, adik, kakak" are the common ones to used in almost all parts of Indonesia.

  6. tbh i really love this kind of vlog bcs you show every aspect of the whole things youโ€™ve been visited. And at some point you given your kids a lesson of life that how diverse our world is. Keep it up travel hacking fam. I believe your kids will grow to be a good person who care to environment, humanity and diversity.

  7. Fyi the pinang that they chewing has main purpose for their strong teeth and healthy teeth coz back then they had no tootbrush or else. Itโ€™s not only in papua and some in every region in indonesia.

  8. I just want be honest, living in plural area is more peaceful than in the city… Although by technology its not that better that the city… I mean… Better simple but peace, than modern but anxious๐Ÿ˜

  9. Haha so funny you call PAK to the boy, PAK means mister and usually only for married man, same like IBU for women ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  10. This is Indonesia especially in the village. They will treat you just like family from far who visits them. They will welcome you with the warmest smile.

  14. FYI, IBU is Ma'am, it's easier to address a boy or girl by calling KAK (older) or ADIK (younger)

  15. Madam = ibu
    Sir = bapak or Pak
Little children = adik or ade
Big boy / sister = Kakak
๐Ÿ™ just sharing for your vocabulary.

  17. 3:16 as far as i know its our traditional way to clean and strength the our tooth way before toothbrush. its not like smoking. but the activity though make them adict. but now it'll replace by toothbrush.

  18. use "dรฉk" or "kaka" to call younger people/children, work for boys & girls. Pak/Bu is for older peoples

  19. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค”…yah memang sekolah yg bagus tapi sayang mister .tidak ada lapangan basketnya .sarana olah raga danlain2
