Ethnopunk journey (part3) ~ Day 105
It was a sunny Sunday in Hiroshima. We met with our friends from #asageshiki tour Lisa and Kouta just after lunch time at Hiroshima Station and headed towards the Futabana mountain to experience their unique Asageshiki tour.
First we walked towards the Toshogu Shrine
https://maps.app.goo.gl/vUjLAg6ZLRzPTvV7A, climbed the long stairs and listened the interesting talk about the area, it’s history as well as present stories. Kouta, the tour guide, had very good English and created friendly and fun atmosphere showing us unique side of Hiroshima.
Many people who visit the city, go to the peace park and its dome then visit Miyashima and that’s it. But there are many other places worth visiting and exploring and Asageshiki tour is presenting a diffetent and beautiful side of Hiroshima.
We visited the main shrine first, then trough many small red tori gates walked through the forest path passing a few more shrines Kinko Inari Shrine

The pagoda is a very special place where after the bombing, countries such as India and SriLanka sent pieces of Budha’s bones to Hiroshima to help creating positive energy and peace. The bones are enshrined in this pagoda.

“Following pilgrimage steps of Ancient Japan ” is a campaign to promote Ethnopunk project, its music, visions and ideas. During our walks we meet local people, discover their stories, new places and share our experiences of unique and authentic Japanese culture with the whole wide world.. 🙂
We take inspiration from those wonderful stories and express them through our videos, photos and especially with shamisen and fuyara flutes, creating new music, songs and melodies.
The purpose of Ethnopunk, is to convey the importance of traditions and culture to people, especially younger and new generations in a fascinating and interesting way that will create active passionate engagements.
We are also looking for opportunities to collaborate with different artists we meet during our journey. We seek to share our ideas and skills with them as well as encourage their own personal development, artistic impressions and help them find their own creative voice.
That’s why we are developing our organisation, building the recording and workshop bases to realize all these activities in order to support not only our ideas but also guiding the development of the younger generation in creative tradition, away from known.
