  1. There’s a great book call The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka I wonder if you could find out if University’s still teach his methods for growing rice.

  2. I love seeing the beauty of Japan outside of the usual places like Tokyo, Osaka and so on. I've always wanted to try harvesting rice just so I could fully appreciate this wonderful staple that I enjoy eating every day. Thank you so much for bringing us along John! Missed the livestream but thank goodness for the replay.

  3. The real Japan is in the countryside.
Cities are nearly all the same anywhere in the world.
Ok there is also exceptional food in the Japanese cities but guess what you got it even fresher and more local in the countryside.
I miss the mountains of Yamagata.

  4. the scenery is just beautiful, looks like straight out of a Ghibli movie. Thank you for sharing with us all these places, John. Love from Romania 🤍

  5. If its facing the sunset and sea during harvesting season, the view would be even more fantastic 😃

  6. Awesome and beautiful scenery , minecraft quality hmmm 🤔what’s that not on this anyway lol 😅Thank you for this one 👍!!!

  7. That's a typically stunning view 👍
That 70's style yellow house is cute too !

I know you're probably already kicking yourself, but you really really needed an ext mic with wind filter John ☹️

Your phone probably hasn't got a headphone/mic socket tho' ☹️

  8. that dog is waiving its tail! its a friendly barking dog, it wont bite just wants to be petted/rubbed/stroked! and told that its a good boy ^_^

  9. What an amazingly beautiful location. When I checked the map, I learned that Shodoshima is half way between Hiroshima and Osaka, which is probably why it reminds me of the locations that were used in the James Bond film, You Only Live Twice.

  10. Thanks for all these livestreams, John! They show us these beautiful place just as they are at the moment. It'll take a lil while for me to visit Japan 😅, and I'd never know these places if you didn't show us . What a cool car btw! 👌😎

  11. I have never seen somebody so excited about the sound of rushing water through a rice paddy. Your soooo funny John 😂

  12. I wanted to watch this last night, but it was already like 1 am and I was too tired 🙁

  13. Japan is so beautiful, the country and the people. When you care for your country and the people this is what you get.

  14. I grew rice at home on a tiny terrace. It was still beautiful. Where city and country meet, where water mixes with nature and plants, is looked at a a kind of sustainable garden, “Saroyama.”
