On this walk, I’m joined by Seiji Watanabe, a professional photographer and fellow Itoshima resident on a walk through the charming port town of Keya in Itoshima. Visitors come here to see the dramatic basalt sea caves, awesome views from above Mt. Tateishi, sandy beaches, seafood restaurants, craft workshops, and more. But it’s more than a tourist destination; it’s a wonderful place to live for those looking to slow down and become closer to nature.

FAQ

Who are you?
Nick Szasz, a Canadian who has lived in Japan for about 35 years. Thirty-one years in Fukuoka, three in Tokyo and one in Osaka. I’m the founder and publisher of Fukuoka Now magazine, a monthly printed bilingual magazine about Fukuoka and Kyushu for international residents and visitors from overseas. Fukuoka Now magazine: https://issuu.com/fukuokanow and Fukuoka Now website https://www.fukuoka-now.com/ – I live in Itoshima – and post about that here: http://www.itoshima-now.com/

Why are you doing this?
I love Kyushu, walking, and cameras, so this seemed like a perfect combination and fun. I hope that even in this small way, to show off and connect Kyushu to the world. Sit back, relax, and let me do the walking and talking.

Support appreciated!
Since January 1, 2021 I’ve posted 40 episodes. I’d like to continue but it takes time, so if you can afford to support this please visit my Patreon page https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive and help me to keep this going. Super chats and Super stickers appreciated too!

I reply to all the comments, so leave one and let me know what you like or don’t. Please “like” the videos, as that makes them appear elsewhere on YouTube and “ring” the bell to get notified of upcoming episodes.

Kyushu Liveでの計画は?
まだまだ手探り状態だけど、福岡市内を撮ったら九州一円に広げていきたいと思っている。PATREON(ファンがクリエイターを直接支援できるサービス)でも登録しているので応援してね!https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive

  1. Thanks for watching. Seems we had some problems with the audio – sorry about that! I'll try to figure out a fix. Anyway – I hope you'll enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thanks to Seiji for being my guide. Stay tune for the next livestream and please leave a comment – love to hear feedback!

  3. Hey Nick, way too early for us to catch the livestream this morning here in Canada (3:30am) but caught it afterwards. Really enjoyed the tour of Keya. We added to our “ to do” list for when we get to travel back to Fukuoka. Really enjoying the streams.

  4. Thanks again, Nick and Seiji. What a great place to live. We look forward to seeing Seiji's Instagram photos. Those photos on Fukuoka Now are terrific too. Fukuoka-Ken has changed remarkably in the past few decades. 👍👍👍😇

  5. Hi Nick, recently discovered your channel, great content. We're moving from Canada to Japan in September, and one of the places we've been looking at is Itoshima. In your opinion, is Itoshima city getting busier? I notice some new businesses popping up like Laspark and Goofy burger, etc. We're thinking of starting a small eatery of sorts. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you!
