SHIBUI / JAPAN　渋い・日本
「渋い」は「粋」や「侘寂」などと同様に日本の美学を表す言葉として有名で、様々な場面で用いられる言葉です。

「渋い」は味覚の「甘い」 の反意語で、室町時代から、柿の渋味や酸味を表すような言葉として存在していました。（志布志）

しかし、江戸時代 にこの言葉は歌からファッション、 職人技に至るまで、 控えめに表現されつつも、根底にある揺るぎない美しさが滲み出るような、あいまいで不完全な美を指す言葉として使われるようになりました。

「渋み」は派手にならずに、極めて簡素かつシンプルに表現され、若々しく瑞々しい美しさとは別次元の美的表現として、今日も私たちの生活や美意識の根底に根付いています。
