In 2000, the ruins of Zakimi Castle, Katsuren Castle, Nakashiro Castle, Shuri Castle, Sonohyan-utaki Stone Gate, Tamaudun, Shikinaen, Sefa Utaki, and Nakijin Castle Ruins were designated as “Gusuku Sites and Related Heritage Sites of the Kingdom of Ryukyu”. It was registered as a World Heritage Site.
