Khadakwasla Dam is a dam on the Mutha River 21 km from the centre of the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. The dam created a reservoir known as Khadakwasla Lake which is the main source of water for Pune and its suburbs. The Khadakwasla Dam is 1.6 km long. The dam has been built on the Mutha River, which begins from the confluence of the rivers Ambi and Mose on which the Panshet and Varasgaon Dams are built respectively, and the outflow from Temgarh Lake through Temgarh Dam about 15 km north of Varasgaon Dam into Khadakwasla Lake. An eminent tourist attraction, Khadakwasla Dam is a pleasant sight to behold. The dam remains crowded with nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts for pleasant weekends and getaways. It is also a featured spot for photography to capture the vividness of nature. There, you can observe nesting birds near the mighty cascade.
Constructed in the late 1950s, Panshet Dam is situated at a distance of 50 km from the southwestern region of Pune. Alternatively known as Tanajisagar Dam, this is a picturesque getaway spot to beat the city heat and pollution. Nestled amidst the lush green beauty of the mighty Sahyadris, one can find a lot of big and small waterfalls in its surroundings. Besides, there are a plethora of water activities to enjoy at this dam – banana boat ride, pedal boating, motor boating, water scooter ride, and kayaking. Besides, you can even opt for bonfire and camping activities if you have a big group to enjoy. Apart from its scenic beauty and adventurous activities, Also, to satiate your stomach cravings, there is a small restaurant close to the Panshet Dam where you can sit for a family lunchtime.
Varasgaon is a dam on the Mose river which supplies water to city of Pune, Maharashtra, India. It is situated on Mose river. It is also called Veer Baaji Pasalkar Dam. It is one of the three major dams which provide water to Pune city. It is located around 40 km from Pune city. The Panshet dam is adjacent to Varasgaon dam, and together both have become a popular picnic spots. During the monsoon or just after monsoon the hills around are lush green with plenty of waterfall. Water sports are also played in this dam.
