We initially heard amazing things about this restaurant, Mapshalia, that they had some must try Georgian foods, so have wanted to visit it for some time. We discovered that they specialize in Megrelian food, which comes from a different region of the country and is actually quite spicy! Some of their specialties include Megrelian khachapuri, cheesy elarji, and kharcho with walnuts. Quite a different take on the usual suspects!

In this Georgian food tour, we take your taste buds to the Megrelian region, where things are a little bit spicier than the rest of the country. We hope you enjoy seeing some of these must try Georgian foods, and stay tuned for some more Georgian food tour adventures!

  1. Told you walnut Kharcho is amazing. How would you compare Elarji to Kuymak. Looks like the cheese is better and there is less cornflour and butter.
Your're going to make me book the next flight to Tblisi. With wine at 5 Lari a liter I'd actually make money on the trip. Awesome value for the money on all other dishes too.

  2. Loved how the waitress had to tell you guys to put all the food from the different platters together, instead of eating from the platters with those giant serving spoons!β€πŸ€£πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
