Aoshima Island is home to hundreds of cute cats that roam around the tiny island. This island located in Ehime prefecture was once lively fishing village, but is now home to only 6 permanent residents. After hearing about all the adorable cats, we made sure to add this island to part of our Shikoku itinerary. But the reality of everything is this place may not last for that much longer…

  2. Maybe the cats can be saved via a massive adoption or relocation program

  3. Such adorable cats, wish I could adopt one! Appreciate the informative video. It does break my heart those precious cats donโ€™t have a single loving home.

  4. There is NOTHING sad. They take amazing care of their cats and the island. What a ridiculous title.

  5. Great video..thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜œโฃ๏ธ

  6. Notice that almost all of the adult cats have the clipped left ear because humans love them very much. That gets done by the veterinarians while they are getting spayed/neutered (fixed) That takes volunteers (everyone in/on Tashirojima loves the cats) and it takes a trap, neuter, return program (TNR) which I'm sure is paid for by the city taxes or local prefecture or whatever.

All of the cats get fed at least twice a day. Even the ones in strange places like my favorite "Pink Cat" who likes to hang out under one boat by the fishing port. Every time Impressed Cat Video goes to visit her, you could see the water and food bowls there someone brought for her and the other few that hang out there. – The residents there love them all. There are even 1,000 year old Japanese shrines in the island that are cat-themed. – It has been a fishing port for thousands of years, and it's clear the fishermen gave fish to the many cats, and the many cats in return kept mice away from the food stored.

Cat island is the best. Clickbait title.. You should be ashamed for slandering their beautiful island. I'm glad you now live in the United States.

  7. kind of a click baity title. it could've been named MVC000232.avi and i still would've watched it

  8. I wouldnโ€™t worry too much Japan has 11 cat islands Iโ€™m sure when the elders die the cats will just be moved to another island
