How I ended up on the shortest South America backpacking trip ever (you already know the answer).
ποΈ I read 2 (two!) books about the Galapagos Islands in February
π I read probably 100 people’s “South America by bus” blog posts
π I read the Culture Trip page for half the cities on that continent
π¨π΄ And I envied my friends who had been enjoying it for so long already
π I thought about the caption for my future Instagrams of Machu Picchu and me with a sea lion…
And then the time came to go to Bogota and actually do it, and I was in the UK within 8 days π
I know 2020 has messed people up in way worse ways than this, but I still wanted to share my version of the “coming home from travelling because of the pandemic” story. It’s not as good as Eva Zu Beck’s story of coming home from Socotra, but I did shoot some footage in Bogota that I wanted to share, and it is still a good memory of a fun week even though it didn’t turn in to anything more.
We were staying in Granada Hostel in Bogota’s La Candelaria. It’s an amazing hostel and as you can see we had a good time buying bottles of ron off them and meeting people. Monserrate seemed like a cool opportunity for a hike, but we went one day and the path was closed, and then the next time we were scared of it raining, so we took the Monseratte Furnicular. It’s an amazing view up there and even though I have bad lungs I couldn’t tell it was so high up!
Thank you for watching, I hope you’re doing well and I’ll see you in a Germany video soon x

It was actually 3 bottles of local ron by the time we shared them with everyone πΉ Posting this means that I edited my 4 travelling videos the same year I shot them this time πͺπͺπͺ h-u-s-t-l-e πͺπͺπͺIt's a shame this isn't a long South America Bus sequel to my USA Train video, but I had some good shots I wanted to use and I wanted to join in with the "coming home from travelling because of corona" videos that were popular, you know, like 8 months ago π
Love Β π
Really hope you can continue your travels in safer times ππ» x

I now fully realize why I enjoy your videos; it's because you truly enjoy and cherish the things that matter and the memories that you DO make, instead of bitching and complaining about what could have been. I'm so sad that the pandemic curtailed your travel plans but it does also give me so much to look forward to! Stay safe Tom and Molly! Can't wait for your future travel plans.
What do you shoot ur videos on? Everything looks so great
What is your home country?
Love your videos! Does anybody else find the "Corona" sign on the wall very ironic? I know it is a beer brand but still, in hindsight…
I have been going through some rough days lately, I feel a great unrest and I'm worrying about lots of things. Stumbling over your travel videos has put me in another place mentally. Your editing is very thoughtful and calming. Thanks for making these.
Damn my family's home country

Glad you enjoyed my city for a little bit m8 hope u can come back soon
My husband travels to Bogota regularly for work. He would love nothing more than to leave the US for a new life there. I'm pushing for Costa Rica. We'll see who wins!
I was watching your video about traveling the US and what a coincidence, now Colombia, my hometown! Hope you guys can come back, hugs
I hope you get a chance to go back to Colombia. What an amazingly beautiful country, right? I've been twice and would like to go back myself.
Great video Darren!
