What are the top 5 busiest air routes in the world? Good question. I regularly fly one of them so decided to cover that topic in this travel vlog. Can you guess the top 5?

These statistics are based on departures, not passenger numbers, as reported by Forbes by Statista. Data is based on flights taken in 2017.

The top ten busiest air routes in the world are all domestic. The busiest is the 282 mile route between Jeju and Seoul in South Korea with 64,991 departures last year. The 443 mile trip from Melbourne to Sydney comes second with 54,519 departures. Third place is Mumbai to Delhi with 47,462 departures last year.

  1. I thought SYD-AKL was one of the top 5 routes. It is surprising Seoul – Jeju as I thought LHR-CDG was about the most busiest.ย  And I too was wondering what job you were doing.

  2. Awesome video again Stefan! I've recently started to follow your video and I'm really enjoying it! And yup! Seoul <-> Jeju is the crazy one. Pretty much every 10 min departures with 6 different airlines from CS300 to B772! (No more B744 though ๐Ÿ™ ) Thanks again for a superb video! Two thumbs up mate!

  3. Great video as usual, Stefan! Having done that trip many times myself, it looks like fun (not!) No interminable delays at the airport for you? Lucky!! The SYD-MEL route is also known as the one where at peak times you'll spend more time on the ground (at each end) than in the air. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Do you really need to catch a cab/uber to get to your meetings? I've long since given up on Sydney traffic and take the train instead, finding it's cheaper and quicker and a lot more reliable (in traffic)… and beneath the terminal.

  4. Hi Stefan. Thank you for the video. Love it as always. Have you thought of signing up with Airly? Would you like to swap that Qantas flight for perhaps a Falcon 900? That's possible as it sometimes is able to be bought for less than you think. If this is of interest, then use this code and sign up at http://flyairly.com

  5. Itโ€™s pretty cool you have a massive passion for aviation. In some alternative universe you would be a great flight crew member to fly with

  6. Wow I am amazed that the USA wasnโ€™t in the top five. Great video Stefan. Keep up the great work ๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. Hey Stef, another great informational and entertaining video mate. Welcome to Sydney and yes the traffic here is rubbish. Just remember somewhere in the world it's 6 o'clock so drink up bud๐Ÿ˜„ cheers.

  8. another good one Stefan ! Other very busy routes I can think of include Madrid – Barcelona/ London – Dublin / Hong Kong – Taipei / Singapore – Kuala Lumpur

  9. I never realised how good the road access/traffic flow into Melb Airport was until today. Was in Sydney for a day trip (Sunday) and they had road works all around the airport, total nightmare trying to reach T2 at 5pm D: Ended up cutting my Uber ride short and walking the remaining distance to the terminal.
