This week we take a look at some of the best boutique hotels, lodges and private island properties. These properties are small and authentically Polynesian. The question is are they right for you? They may not be for every traveller depending on your travel style. So we will take a look at what you should consider before choosing to stay in this style of accommodation. This includes the amenities offered, food options and choices, budget, and at the end of the day what you are looking for in your vacation to Tahiti.
I will cover a range of properties from 3 star to 5 star across a variety of islands and island archipelagos. For example, the Moorea Beach Lodge is a 3 star property with only 12 bungalows and offers a beautiful beach and a private kitchen for guests to use for lunch and dinner – a different dining style than the usual restaurant or room service options at larger properties.
Hotel La Pirogue API on a private motu in Taha’a offers 5 bungalows surrounded by the stunning lagoon. Being so small and intimate it offers an authentic Polynesian feel not found at some of the 5 star properties.
On the other end of the spectrum, Motu Nao Nao is a private island available for exclusive rental for families and friends. You have the entire island and staff at your disposal to cater to every need or want- from a special meal to movies under the stars and a Polynesian show exclusive to you. Motu Teta and Nukutepipi also offer exclusive private island experiences to you and your group.
Lastly as a different option if you enjoy being out on the lagoons is a rental from catamaran Yacht Charter. They offer a crew specifically for you and have sailing itineraries from their base in Raiatea or can be customized to your preference. But living on the lagoons is definitely something unique to experience!
