On our first leg of this trip, we were on our way to Taki Shrine, when we realized just how close we were to a popular train station that was scene in the film, Your Name (君の名は).

We stopped by the station and waited for a few trains to come and go and were lucky to snap a few images before heading on to Taki Shrine.

Located in the mountainside of Mino City in Gifu Prefecture, Taki Shrine is a beautiful place hidden in the trees of a small forest.

The rain was light that morning as we approached the steps of the shrine. Overall it was purely relaxing as the morning birds chirped here and there. All that was left, was to film and try our best to get the shots we hoped for.

*Special Note*

By the time we got to this shrine, the lack of sleep was catching up to me and I was feeling pretty tired. This, in turn, affected how I was shooting video, which was very little to be honest. On the last leg of the trip, I went into full Photographer mode again and focused more on getting the shots I wanted rather than telling the story I wanted.

I feel this was more to not being as prepared as I wanted to. Moving forward, I will learn from this and try to have a plan in place in order to get the shots I need, while filming enough to also tell the story I want to tell.

Audio is not so well due to the mic on the Osmo Action I used, but I hope to remedy that in future videos.

  1. I'd love to do an anime pilgrimage type trip. Hit up a bunch of places that inspired or were shown in my favorite shows.

  2. Another great vid. Saved the location for the future. If adventuring is your style i guess you should try camping in the autumn.

  3. I like that you and Norm showed some different things in the videos. It's really cool to see more of these areas.

  4. OMG – was that narrow road around the 3 minute mark a 2-way road? If so, I would have been so stressed out about meeting up with another vehicle.
So many stairs during your trip. You 2 must be in great shape.

Nice to see a different angle on the adventure.

  5. I love how different photographers "see" the world. Take a group of 5 of us to the same location, and you won't get the same photo twice. Thanks for this different take on your and Norm's adventures. New subscriber looking forward to more.

  6. Happy to be here before 1000 subs! I'm sure there will be many more to come! Thanks for uploading these great videos! Seeing places in Japan like this are what help relax me.

  7. Great video!! Came here from Norm's channel and I've already subscribed!!! I liked the Doai Station video!! Spooooky!! Looking forward for new videos!!! All the best!!!

  8. I'm so excited for part two of the series! The places you visit are all incredible in their own way…

  9. It would be great and more interesting if you would have added some of the picture you took in the video. It would probably help us to see the shrine in your perspective. Anyway it’s just my 2 cents. Good video thou! 👍
