PAR – Precision Approach Radar Practice instrument approach using PAR guidance to runway 26 at KFHU. Aircraft is a Cessna 182. I am acting as safety pilot in the right seat. Pilot is wearing view limiting device.
This is pretty cool. How do you set this up? Do you have to give the approach/tower advance notice that you want to do a PAR? I'm not instrument rated but I'm pretty sure not many airports offer PAR, right?
If you are looking for airports offering PAR you can find them at the front of the TERPS. And yes you're right not many airports offer it; looks like in the entire Pacific Northwest only Gray AFB and Whidbey NAS have PAR.
