Welcome to our Hong Kong Travel Vlog.
We decided to travel to Hong Kong to find out whether it is safe to explore. With Hong Kong currently having a lot of media attention surrounding protests around the city – there may be a lot of people who are concerned about travels to Hong Kong.

Whilst we visited numerous areas in Hong Kong via walking, MTR and by bus. We also tried out some great local food!

  1. Hong Kong MTR train under China control now. Don't catch MTR train.

  2. No, it is not safe to travel to Hong Kong. There are too many violent protests in Hong Kong. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. Instead, they can consider transiting through Hong Kong to Macau and Zhuhai (a city in Guangdong province). The situation regarding violence in Hong Kong has already been out of control since mid-September.

  4. Not really safe to travel to Hong Kong now eh, you guys get there right before the situation because intense

  5. I returned from Hong Kong recently. It's safe as long as you avoid where protests are happening (transport & stores will be shut down in that area).

Also, don't give impression to Hong Kongers you're from mainland China (i.e. don't speak Mandarin, ask 'nosey' questions to HKers, shoot video that identify people's faces, etc.) as HKers, especially protesters, may think you're a spy (tip given to me from a person who lives in Guangzhou visiting relatives in HK). HKers not targeting tourists otherwise.

HK is in recession now with the protests & corresponding drop in tourism. Flights and hotels prices have dropped prices to try to attract tourists, so support HK by going there, if you always wanted to go there. HK could use your support. It's a wonderful city. #HongKongStrong
