This was our first vacation post covid situation, we wanted to keep it as safe as possible so we decided to just visit one of the cities in Poland and avoid enclosed locations.

We chose Sopot for our vacation which is a popular beach destination in Poland and has two other cities nearby Gdansk and Gdynia, we travelled to Sopot with intercity express premium train, I will be creating a separate video for our days in Sopot and journey to Sopot from Warsaw.

On our second day in Sopot we decided to do a day trip to Gdansk which is a beautiful port city, we took an Uber from our apartment in Sopot to Gdansk old town, since we only had few hours we did not waste time and directly went to Old town.

We have been to a lot of european cities and have seen old towns in all of those cities but Gdansk old town will easily be at the top of our list from all the old towns we have seen till date.

Old town street in Gdansk also called Long Market Street is really a long stretch of straight road with colorful old buildings and most of them are present from medieval times. You will find a lot of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops on this entire stretch.

Gdansk old town includes town hall which has a clock tower and you can locate from far end of the road as well and you can hear beautiful bells ringing every hour, you will also see a beautiful Neptune fountain on this street which is again from medieval time.

On the waterfront you will again see a lot of colourful buildings which have a combination of both old and new buildings and then you will see many big and small boats including a Pirate ship on which you can take a ride for a few mins.

We took a normal boat ride from Gdansk to Sopot, we had not planned for this but we could not resist taking the boat ride even if it was a bit more costlier and took more time compared to an Uber and it was totally worth it.

Sopot to Gdansk Uber ride will cost you around 35-40 PLN and it takes around 30 mins to reach Gdansk Old Town from Sopot while boat ride from Gdansk to Sopot costs 50 PLN per adult and would take around 60 mins.

Important Tip – Please carry cash when going to Gdansk as most of the shops and street vendors will not accept cards including the tickets for boats.

  1. Beautiful place. The buildings and roads looked as if they are straight from some paintings. Loved it. Ship ride was too good! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
