Japan continues closed for independent travellers. In today’s video we continue to look at the situation in Japan as we wait for things to peak and hope for news of a reopening. We will also explore how the tourist industry is changing and what this might mean for a future trip to Japan and also look into the fact that the Japanese mindset is starting to change, accepting living with the virus.. something that will greatly benefit foreign tourism.

  1. Thanks as always. Seems like anyone with a little celebrity is in Japan right now. What’s it take to go “on business” these days, realistically? I can easily make a case for business but still not ready to ask customers for “sponsorship”.
    (The 4th Booster? ヤバイバケがている😂😂)

  2. I usually wait 2 weeks before hoping to travel to Japan, if border not open change change dates for accommodation and flights. It's the 7th today and the rates in covid are starting to go down. 🥷🐒🍌🍱 . Thank-you for this update.

  3. THANK YOU SIR NATHAN FOR EVERYTHING WE ARE GLAD WE FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. HAFA ADAI FROM GUAM 👋🏻 🇬🇺 🍱

  4. Bro, glad to hear you're traveling to japan next week. I think lots of the stores have closed in Akihabara. For me my set date to travel was last march and I replaced Tokyo with london. It was a beautiful city, the tourism infrastructure was amazing . I'm going there in thrid week of August again. Personally for me Japan and tokyo have it's own unique experience. I miss the onsen experience in the winter beautiful scenario and foods. But not really in a rush to visit at this time as the situation there unstable for visitors and may flip at any instance.

  5. 🍱 So, my deadline for Japan to become a no go is September 2023. As an alternative I would go to London. I know London is common for you because you’re from the UK, but I love London. I especially love all the diverse foods available. I dare say better than NYC. My favorite pub in London is Hung Drawn and Quartered near the Tower of London, and I love all the Nando’s in the UK we don’t have many of them in the US.

  6. Lets say the borders do open up. One thing to consider is the service job market. The second, the state of air travel.

Right now in the US (and maybe Europe/Australia), people are leaving jobs, MOSTLY in food, service, and retail, for better jobs. I don't blame them for leaving those types of jobs. Having worked in that field during college, those Karen videos are VERY MUCH REAL. Especially with COVID, the Karens have gotten WORSE. Would a Japanese even want to go back to a service job knowing they WILL have to deal with Karens.

We are seeing a job crisis with air travel as well. This summer was CRAZY so far with airline cancellations. Like retail/food/service, Karens have also invaded air travel. Not only that, DATA ON THE OFFICIAL FAA site states there is a HUGE rise of KARENS (around 9-10x, yes 9-10x).

How much do you think the Japanese are ready and wanting apply for service, retail, food, and airline jobs, all things considered?

  7. The cabinet will be reshuffled in the next few days. New ministers, a new start. Something may change. Let's hope it doesn't take too long.

  8. Appreciate that Japan is protecting its aging population…tourism is good but citizens protection is more important. My own country doesnt really care about vaccinating anybody let alone the elderly…lol🤣 sorry gotta laugh about my govts negligence!🇵🇬💪💀

  9. japan is pretty much the only place i like to visit and spend money, they need to sort out their entry conditions if they want more of my money in the future 😉

  10. Omicron boosters should be made available by September. They're probably waiting on that also. In any case, they're not going to drop restrictions when BA-5 cases are increasing.

My guess – Early October for travelers who've gotten the Omicron booster. The BA-5 wave should be over by the end of August and they can then reclassify Covid. Once they do that, the next step is to let in travelers with the Omicron boosters.

That's my guess. What's a few more months when they've had the country closed for travelers for over 2 years.
