We are starting the walk from Clarke Quay MRT station and we will take a tour inside Clarke Quay Central, which is a shopping mall. Then we will walk at the riverside quay along the Singapore River. We will end the walk by going to the popular Singapore nightclubs in Clarke Quay! Okay, let’s go!

Clarke Quay is a historical riverside quay in Singapore, located within the Singapore River Planning Area. The quay is situated upstream from the mouth of the Singapore River and Boat Quay.

Clarke Quay was named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore’s second Governor and Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1873 to 1875, who played a key role in positioning Singapore as the main port for the Malay states of Perak, Selangor and Sungei Ujong.

Clarke Quay is also the name of a road along the quay, part of which has since been converted into a pedestrian mall.

At present, five blocks of restored warehouses house various restaurants and nightclubs. There are also moored Chinese junks (tongkangs) that have been refurbished into floating pubs and restaurants. River cruises and river taxis on the Singapore River can be accessed from Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay has become known as a hub of Singaporean nightclubs.

  8. @51:01, whoever is in Singapore right now, can someone confirm if that shop on the right with green walls outside still operates? we were there in 2015 and back then it was a restaurant. that's where we had our very first meal when we arrived in Singapore.
that was my first time to try the famous chicken rice and I soo f***n loved it. we have been planning all along to eat there when we go back. hopefully it is still operational.
