Very impressive indeed Rush,maybe Portmore should become the 15th Parish in Jamaica. These new developments will go long way towards making it the third city in the country. Portmore seems to have the land space to accommodate quite a bit more that a modern city requires. A massive state of the art hospital along with substantial investments in water must be on the agenda of the authorities.. This is a good look and bodes well for the future of this municipality. Jamaica on the move!
Naysayers will always find faults but the BPO sector in its current form is good for the employment numbers but Jamaica like other countries will move up the food chain. This is only the start, I see this sector diversifying to include financial services,data mining,data analytics and even corporate law but we must do our due diligence and have the workforce to match these services. If one thing Covid-19 is currently teaching us,is that Jamaica must speed up the process of truly diversifying its economy. We’ve become too overly dependent on tourism and remittances. Time we get serious about our manufacturing/export and value added agricultural sectors..

To generalize and say the entire BOPO industry in Jamaica pays a small salary is not true. It depends on the tye of clients and contracts these BOPO have signed with their overseas business partners. My daughter works at a call center in Kingston and see gets $95 000 per month (not including bonuses)

This is a massive development for Portmore. More jobs for young people.
The BPO industry is one of the highest paying industry in Jamaica. I am not sure who is pushing the agenda that the industry is low paying. It really is not.
