The magical land of Asia Minor, also known as Anatolia, along with its surrounding areas today collectively known as modern-day Turkey, is one of my favorite travel destinations because of the incredible heritage left by numerous cultures.

In October 2019, I embarked on a two-week trip in Turkey. This series is about that trip.

In the first episode, I spent a non-typical tourist day in Istanbul with my local friends. I visited the Asia side of Istanbul, eaten at the fabulous rotating restaurant situated at the highest point of Istanbul, went all the way north to the Black Sea, and saw the abandoned Byzantine castle.

  1. Well, Mr F, splendid accounting! Eloquent camera work in balance with illuminating commentary, and given the variety of dishes you cover, you must now be in a position to (a) write a goyurmet's dictionary, and (b) come to England to educate the majority of our unadventurous food markets and restaurants that subscribe to formulaic micro-waved or pre-packed meals or, for the sake of appearances, cosmetic cooking costing the earth! As a matter of interest, given your diplomatic handling of turnip juice, do you edit anything you find nauseous or dislike? You always seem very positive. Are you restrained from commenting negatively on a dish that doesn't work? Anyway, your programmes are gems. Thank you. M.
