There are few things in the world as scary as landslides! Globally, the highest number of fatalities from landslides have been in Asia and South America, as well as the Caribbean islands. Wherever slopes are steep, there is a chance they will fail. Landslides cause injuries, property damage, and in some cases, death. They also affect a variety of resources; water supplies, fisheries, sewage systems, forests, and roadways are all affected by them.
Almost every landslide has multiple causes; it occurs when gravity a mass of rock, debris, or earth move in a downward slope. Landslides happen in slopes that are already on the verge of movement due to heavy rainfall, snowmelt, stream erosion, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and disturbance by humans. Even a combination of these can cause a landslide. It may seem like it rarely happens because you never hear about them, but two major ones occurred just in the last few months of 2020!

    Mount Saint Helen's occurred the same month and year that my daughter Karla was born. I had her on May 6, and I guess, the 18th or near abouts is when the volcano errupted. My late mother bought me a patch that said "Mount Saint Helen's errupts!"

    When I lived in Death Valley, they had a road that went through Wildrose Canyon, and there were always rocks falling in to the road. I'm sure they still have that issue. I made the mistake of going on that road to get to Ridgecrest. I never did that again.

    L.A.M.E video. Just absolutely eye rolling awful. It's just clips of movies used over and over again, with real footage briefly sprinkled in.
    Edit : omg…..you don't even have the geologic events in the right place..OR countries for that matter. Wtf

    Mixing Hollywood clips with real landslides spoils this video and gives false information. Very poor. Sierra Leone is in West Africa and Florida doesn't have mountains. This is one of the worst videos of landslides I have seen. A lot of people will not realise that Hollywood clips are not real landslides or volcanic eruptions. Poorly researched and false information. Terrible video.

    thumbs down. you are using clips from one disaster while describing another one. I sayd nothing while using movie clips just for visual effects, but at 9:52 you used clips describing from Vayont disaster (Italy 1963) for a landslide in Utah. that was too much. not only you are giving wrong information, but remember that people died in these disasters. if not for respect, you should pay attention

    Ffs really wish you didn’t show a million movie scenes because I was trying to show my son what landslides are and had to continually explain “no that one’s not real that’s a movie” 🙄 imagine all the people out there who don’t have someone explaining what’s real and what isn’t.

    Says 10 massive land slides caught on camera. So many movie scenes in CGI scenes thrown in. All I wanted to see was the landslides caught on camera most of which were just pictures of the aftermath so.

    Downvote for being click bait and making it difficult to tell whats actual footage and whats scenes from a disaster movie.

    It is Mount St HelenS, with a "s" at its end. Always check your facts before you open your mouth. Too many YouTubers don't.
    I saw the mountain blow up from Seattle that Sunday morning.

    This is the worst bunch of total BS. The creators of this video think you're too stupid to catch their total lies. It talks about a landslide that happened on a mountain in Sierra Leone, Florida but there are no mountains in Florida because it's flat as a pancake. Give these guys a big thumbs down.

    1:47 man made. Look at those explosions. The rock just melted. Gas my ass! " Once the side of the mountain was removed….ha! Fire on the Mountain by the Grateful Dead is about this very subject. Volcanos do not explode like that! Look at the different color of smoke. Any geologist out there can tell me if i'm wrong!
