  1. I stand a far greater chance of being stabbed to death walking to my local corner shop than I ever have of coming to grief sailing around the globe.

  2. Have you been to any of these places, or any other "dangerous" destinations? We'd love to hear your stories.

  3. Extra content 😀

Nope, do not really have anything to add as you got the couple I already knew of. North Sentinel has long been a fascination of mine, however is no way in the world I would risk going there. Besides it is prolly best to leave them alone anyway instead of risking damaging and modernizing their unique (and unknown to us) ancient culture. Also the Spratley Islands … used to see them often in my travels in the USN and would have loved to visit some of those, but again not in todays political world which has escalated and grown since my navy days. Yemen and Somalia are both known for no go areas ofc.

Closest thing I can think of is Diego Garcia, which for the most part being a UK island with both UK and US military is for the most part not allowed to go too. Except I have already been a couple times. Loved my time there on those occasions. I believe one can and is allowed to anchor there if absolutely necessary, but do not think you are still allowed actually on the island. But it is not really dangerous, moreso you are just not allowed there.

  4. Not heard of some of these places but they sound very interesting.
I wonder with sea levels predicted to rise considerably by the end of the Century how many of the low lying Islands may even disappear?
FTB and other content providers may inadvertently be creating a historical archive of "what was" no longer to be explored in many ways a depressing scenario so keep filming all these lovely and remote places you visit as you are doing a great job documenting this all

  5. Very educational and interesting. There are places all around the world one should never visit and these are just a few. There are cities in the US I will never visit and would never recommend you visit. Fortunately, at least 90% of the world is safe and OK to visit. Most of the time its a misunderstanding and misperception of the culture and people in an area that gets people nervous. But once you realize that most people are good and not out to kill you or steal your property you are able to relax and enjoy yourself. Still, it's always a good idea to be prepared, think ahead, understand local customs and culture, treat them with respect and they will treat you with respect. Thank you for a great video, always appreciate your insight and experience.

  6. One question: How do you hold your updated in news way daily? I mean in these days the situations is sow fragile in meny places in the world? It must be a must to stay updated!? Aden was a great place even in the 1960-ties! Fare wind's! BarbroSweden

  7. Right now I would not visit or stay in any hotel with a Trump sign on it. Other than that I would visit any place in the World that's not an active war zone (War Zones include most major Citys in the USA)

  8. I went diving in the Spratley islands in 2013 off the northern coast of Malaysia thinking it would be awesome. Boy was I wrong. The whole underwater landscape was dynamited to smithereens. There was this one spot with 3 huge parallel man made trenches that baffled us all. I don’t want to accuse one country over an other but considering what China is building on those islands it’s not hard to figure out whose responsible.

  9. Shame about jemen. Becouse of US embargo, they are dying from hunger. Woman, children, old….cant really blame them for piracy.

  10. Ascension Island (UK), south Atlantic. Very remote volcanic island with exposed anchorage. Very pretty……but. When we were there, no swimming off the yacht rule strictly enforced. Never seen so many aggressive Hammerhead Sharks, and to cap it off, the large schools of saltwater Piranhas devour anything dropped in the sea. I tossed in an orange. Took then one minute to devour the entire thing. Happy Sailing… 🐬

  11. Totally Off-topic… I've been concerned with navigation and no one, to my knowledge, has addressed this… The Poles of the Earth are moving. Both have migrated several degrees from where they were 20 years ago… The question is: Do you ever rely on your magnetic Compass or navigate by GPS alone? It would seem to me that a magnetic compass is just extra weight on a boat… Thanks 🙂 Great video – very informative 🙂

  12. i wish some sailors would visit Reunion, Seychelles, Mauritius and other south indian ocean islands. i know, they're a little out of the way.

  13. You have shown me many places that I have never heard of! (or "of which I have never heard") Many thanks and stay safe!

  14. Interesting isn’t it? Where there are no tourists with suntan lotion coral grows? Too bad politics and economics make beautiful places inaccessible. 👍🙂

  15. I believe that Wake Island is of limits as is Johnston Atoll. Diego Garcia is prohibited for everyone with no business being there. The other Chagos islands are accessible but staying there has a time limit and there is
a fee. Bikini Atoll has some kind of diving permit and is abundant with undisturbed sea life and ship wrecks.
The coast of Mozambique has spots a long the coastline with abandoned resorts from the Portuguese period
that can bring you in a somewhat melancholic wondering mood about a long gone forgotten world that once was. Ever heard of the Aldabra Atoll?

  16. I cringed when I saw that glass of Scotch. (Water of life) it looked like some sasanach put chunks of ice in it. Great video as usual. Be safe.

  17. The US NAVY does not dump their "crap" overboard! They have to store it aboard until they reach port!

  18. Captain Rick Moore post a video yesterday about a drug island near Nicaragua. Beautiful area but scary business taking place. Stay safe

  19. I'm glad I watched the entire video before saying anything about Somalia.
Do you know why the piracy is so rampant there?
The government was taken over by a military coalition, which immediately fell apart and started fighting each other for control. There currently is no governing structure other than warring factions. The pirates are just trying to survive in a lawless nation. ( Not condoning piracy, just explaining their motivation )

  20. Excellent vid and as usual concisely, informatively and entertainingly presented. ….Plus i "learned" without risk of my brain bleeding

  21. Have been to Heard Island 20 years ago. I dont remember the volcano being a threat but the seals were huge and surprisingly quick. You certainly don't want to get too close to the seals

  22. Ohh, I think Gosport can be dangerous if Cid's had a few red wines. 😂😂Good and informative video. Shame so much of the kingdom is out of bounds because it really is a beautiful country and outside the cities the folks are genuinely humble, welcoming and warm. Sail Safe. Ant, Cid & the Pooch crew.

  23. Of your alternatives, I'd love to go to Shetland. It's a definite wish-list destination.
