When I moved to Fukuoka many years ago, I remember being in awe by this broad boulevard (Taihaku-dori) with its seemingly endless line of towering palm trees. It was the month of July and very hot. “The tropics… and no more winter!” I said to myself. That lasted until November when temperatures dropped, and I realized that Fukuoka, like most of Japan, has winter and snow. On today’s walk, we’ll start in the port area near the Fukuoka Cruise Terminal, then walk by Fukuoka International Congress Center, Marine Messe Fukuoka, Fukuoka Kokusai Center, and Fukuoka Sunpalace Hotel & Hall, and then up Taihaku-dori to Hakata Station. With the sudden uptick in C19 infections and requests by authorities to stay home, we will stick to areas with very few people. We are not encouraging others to go outside unnecessarily; instead, we hope our videos will provide a means for those at home to see and experience Kyushu safely.

FAQ
Who are you?
Nick Szasz, a Canadian who has lived in Japan for about 35 years. Thirty-one years in Fukuoka, three in Tokyo and one in Osaka. I’m the founder and publisher of Fukuoka Now magazine, a monthly printed bilingual magazine about Fukuoka and Kyushu for international residents and visitors from overseas. Fukuoka Now magazine: https://issuu.com/fukuokanow and Fukuoka Now website https://www.fukuoka-now.com/ – I live in Itoshima – and post about that here: http://www.itoshima-now.com/
Why are you doing this?
I love Kyushu, walking, and cameras, so this seemed like a perfect combination and fun. I hope that even in this small way, to show off and connect Kyushu to the world. Sit back, relax, and let me do the walking and talking.
Support appreciated!
Since January 1, 2021 I’ve posted 40 episodes. I’d like to continue but it takes time, so if you can afford to support this please visit my Patreon page https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive and help me to keep this going. Super chats and Super stickers appreciated too!

Kyushu Liveでの計画は?
まだまだ手探り状態だけど、福岡市内を撮ったら九州一円に広げていきたいと思っている。PATREON(ファンがクリエイターを直接支援できるサービス)でも登録しているので応援してね!https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive

Missed the live stream but thank you!! Great stream
Great stream thank you again!
Thanks to everyone who joined us live today. I'm really pleased with how it went today, and it seems most of the issues we had with the microphones or connectivity are solved. Or maybe we're just lucky? Anyway – as promised,,,, on the way back after the livestream I counted the number of palm tress on Taihaku-dori,,,, and the total is,,,,, 67! If you want to learn when and why they were planted watch from 30:30 – – thanks again, and please be sure to like, subscribe, comment and see you next time!
Thanks again, Nick and Emiko. We enjoyed seeing this diverse presentation of present-day Fukuoka.
Australia here. I really do adore Fukuoka. No doubt it's been said plenty of times before by many others, but Fukuoka would be much choice of best city to live in Japan. It has all I require & the pace suits me down to the ground.
It's also my stopping off point before heading further South into Kyushu to see old friends. I also try & stop there a short while afterward my Kyushu visit, in readiness for the hustle & bustle of Tokyo.
Something that I am noticing from watching Youtube videos is that there's far more to Fukuoka than I realised. So I need to venture out further. Maybe take one of those tour boat cruises?
