As the rain stopped, I took a video of Kansai International Airport (KIX)
on the opposite bank of “Rinku Premium Outlets”.

KIX opened on Sep. 4, 1994.
Twenty-four years later, on Sep. 4, 2018, the airport was hit by typhoon Jevi.
A large tanker crashed into the Sky Gate Bridge connecting the airport to the mainland, trapping the remaining people at the airport on the airport island.
In April 2019, it will fully restore traffic to and from the mainland.

It was used by many people before COVID-19, but now there are few departures and arrivals, and I hope that it will return to its original vibrant airport as soon as possible.

雨の止んだ合間に「りんくうプレミアムアウトレット」対岸にある
関西国際空港を撮影しました。

太平洋に囲まれた空港島。
1994年９月４日開港します。そのちょうど24年後台風21号により
甚大な被害を受けました。
スカイゲートブリッジに大型タンカーが衝突し、橋は閉鎖。
空港に取り残された人も多数いました。完全復旧は7カ月後でした。

コロナ前は多くの人々が利用していましたが、今はまだ離発着便も少なく、早く元の活気ある空港に戻って欲しいと思っています。
