Join me on a great day trip to Hakone from Tokyo. Fortunately, today’s weather is pleasant, and we will start our journey from Shinagawa Station, taking a Shinkansen to Odawara Station, and then a local train on to Hakone-Yumoto, which is the quickest way to get there.
We will experience a full day in Hakone, starting with a visit to a traditional tea house to drink amazake. We will then ake a hike over Mount Byōbu, visit the beautiful Hakone Shrine and Gateway to Peace on Lake Ashi, and have a delicious pork cutlet for lunch. After lunch, we will take a sightseeing cruise in a pirate ship up Lake Ashi to Togendai, followed by the ropeway to the geothermic site of Owakudani, take a footbath at Sounzan with a view over the mountains, and then a cable car down the mountain to Gora Station. At Gora Station, we will take the “Hydrangea Railway” to Tonosawa Station, and then walk to a nearby onsen to relax for a couple of hours and have Soba and Tempura for dinner. After this full day in Hakone, we will head back to Tokyo on the Shinkansen.
