Shonan monorail is a monorail which runs Ofuna station to Shonan Enoshima station in Kanagawa prefecture. It is a 14 minutes trip you can enjoy beautiful ocean and nature sceneries. It is like a roller coaster running through mountains and tunnels.
What makes this monorail unique is that the monorail is suspension type. Also, it is the first suspended safege monorail started its operation in 1970 when World Expo was held in Osaka. It was my first time to take this monorail and I am telling my honest opinions of it so hope it helps you to get ideas of what it is like🚆

  1. Very interesting video. I wonder how noise compares to a regular train. Seemed about the same to me.

  2. Sneaky Sensei again ! I didn't see a notification, clearly the Ninja stealth at work ! You don't know she's there until she has struck ! 🙂 I'm behind on the streams, so I will catch up as I can. On a fun note, Emily has been naughty these last two days ! Yesterday it rained all day and she got stuck in the mud at the gomi no umetate three times ! I think she must have a crush on the bulldozer that pushed her out each time ! 😉 And today she cracked her lower packing panel. Now, something that might have some bearing on that is that the hydraulics are supposed to be set at 2500 pounds per square inch, and the boss has them at 2600 PSI. BUT, I saw the first two numbers on the hydraulic tester, and they were 27. So, at a minimum she is between 200 and 299 PSI above pressure, so she probably has the most powerful trash compactor in the fleet ! 🙂 I love my bad girl 🙂 !

  3. Wow! Your videos just get better and better. You are a true professional! I looked it up and this type of train is called a "suspension railway". Not that common it seems but there are a few others. Very neat though, thank you! I love the little cute touches in the video (of course your reactions are always wonderful), especially the captions. So great! Thank you so much!

  4. Thanks for the good video. I don't think we have them in America. The closest thing is an elevated train

  5. It does take a minute or two to get used to it, from a visual point of view. Still, just as clean as ever!

  6. Very interesting system. I want to ride it one day. Thank you Yuka for taking us with you.🙏🥰

  7. Great video! This brings back memories when I was an expat in Japan. Living in Kajiwara I used to always ride the Shonan monorail from Shonan-Fukasawa to Ofuna.

  8. I enjoyed it very much! If I ever get to ride a monorail I will definitely want to be up front…there's where all the fun is haha. Great video!

  9. Me gustó tu video, está muy padre el monorriel elevado colgante👍. Nada que ver con la porquería de metro ligero que tenemos aquí en mi ciudad, con vagones chinos y alemanes que siempre fallan ¬¬

  10. Let's do a poll. Are trains more romantic than other modes of transportation? Which is the most romantic mode of transportation? And remember that Yuka has a problem with motion sickness so anything too bumpy might make her sick. So does that rule out airplanes, ships and trains? How about long winding car rides or bus rides? So for this case, let's assume all of these modes of transportation are as smooth as glass. Which one then is the most romantic? Rate them from ❤ to ❤❤❤❤❤. (As a a side note I was riding on a subway train in London once with a friend and a man and a woman were speaking to each other in Italian with great enthusiasm. I thought they might be a couple but my friend who understood like 5 languages told me that the man was coming onto the woman and she was telling him that she disliked him intensely and that he made her sick. LOL.)

  11. In Germany we also have several of those hanging monorails (surprise, German invention 😉 )
But only one is famous (Wuppertaler Schwebebahn") both because it's (I think) the longest and above a river.

  12. Hi Yuka I enjoyed your video showing us the upside-down monorail 🚝 it looked amazing and the views from the train were fantastic

  13. Sorry for double comment , but I knew that I seen this monorail video before on another Youtube channel from Japan . This was back in Jan. 2021 > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6FXTxKpe-M&t=72s < also in the video the Youtuber went to Enoshima Island and Kamakura. I just thought that I would share this. Also the Youtuber showed several different trains , including ( Thomas the tank Engine ) for those who are interested. Enjoy

  14. It really is like a Disneyland ride; glad you made it on board finally! 👏 メジロと呼ばれてるのはいい感じになった。「えぇ、メジロじゃなくて目白山下駅がそれだけじゃん」😂🤣

  15. Excellent documentation of the ride. If you feel motion sickness on this one, you might wanna try the same system in Chiba that is slower. Personally, I still prefer riding this one as the acceleration on this train is faster making it almost like a roller coaster experience.

  16. The train that you went on, I don't think that it will work for America and if it does, well, it does, but the thing is, American people, are known to figuratively erase anything remotely Japanese, but if I'm wrong about it, then I'm totally wrong.
