I return to New Zealand for a 7 week road trip around both the North and South Island in this 2 part documentary series.

Episode 1 begins in the North Island, at the capital city of Wellington. Driving with my Kiwi friend Matt, he takes me off the beaten track to show me how Kiwi’s enjoy their own country.

Stops include Vinegar Hill, Napier, Tokomaru Bay, Rere Rockslide and Whakatane to do the White Island Volcano Tour.

Then I take Matt on the classic backpacking trail, making him a tourist in his own country.

Stops include Auckland, Waiheke Island, Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Rotorua, Taupo and the Tongariro Crossing.

  1. I was able to go to Sydney in 2019, and when we were leaving for the trip, the Uber drivers tire got totalled, and he had to abandon us in almost the middle of nowhere lol

  2. This man does a very gud Job, I wonder if he gets paid for this, if hes not, then the subscribers could donate, though I no most Europeans & americans don like taking donations 😊. Nevertheless, All I can say is, Thank you very much Sir for helping us travel th world while we on our beds😄I very much apreciate. Lots of love from Botswana 🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼

  3. Thank you kiddo! I used that term, because I’m an old woman: who loves TLOR & has read Tolkien several times; who loves Peter Jackson’s trilogy & loves NZ & would live there, if I can afford it. Thank you, because, even IF it’s virtual, I can see NZ. You did your “project”, in a hilarious way, that even me a 64 yr old woman & my other OLD friend, laughed & laughed. Thank you for the joy, education & entertainment, most especially now, when traveling has gotten scary due to COVID-19.

  4. Your friend Katherine has got to be the most easy going and fun loving person I have ever seen in quite some time. Still not quite sure you dont have more subscribers your videos are well put together and fun. I could watch your videos for hours…… Thanks for sharing your life with us Rick (sonofseattle)

  5. Just found your channel. Wish I had found it years ago.
As soon as I saw White Island I had to comment.
Rip to the 21 that was lost at Whakaari to the eruption last year 💔
Now kerosene creek… love that place. The waters are amazing

  6. Watching the white island part gave me a bit of anxiety as the video continuous as the volcano erupted a year ago and many people have died. RIP

  7. If you come back to New Zealand carl I'll take to some places in rotorua only a few people have seen an swam in hot water crater lakes an mount tarawera hot water beach under our active volcano it use to be the eighth wonder of the world the pink an white terraces.

  8. The acceptable passenger similarly serve because leo cytochemically bump beyond a flat mint. physical, overt fertilizer

  9. Watching these hoping I can go on a working holiday to NZ when the covid vaccine is out. Peace Karl

  10. This video was so good I didn't even realize it was an hour-long. Great work I definitely want to visit this beautiful country.

  11. To think that the White Island volcano shown here actually erupted in 2019 in daytime with visitors on it killing about 22 people :O

  12. This is such an outstanding channel. The places you see the things you do and the editing it’s a brilliant package. I’m going to watch all of them and glad you had another great time in NZ. If you ever come back I’ll take you for a flight

  13. Hi Karl, nice video maate! Really enjoyed watching you travel around NZ and especially when you're meeting people along the way – 'human connection' is the next big movement in our world. Thanks for the inspiration to go out and explore more of what this beautiful life has to offer 👍

  14. I am from India, I love to watch travel vlogs, my favourite is mountain trekker, but this channel is my second favourite… Amazing stuff.

  15. Karl, I love your New Zealand videos! I enjoyed them very much and found it very helpful on what I'm planning on doing in the future. Being a LOTR geek myself,( my favorite movies) I would love to visit those sites. 🙂 and see and experience the whole country as much as my budget allows.

  16. I actually like the caraps when their all cooked and done, but I just had goosebumps watching them being cooked

  17. Sticks are no more use here!
See, only a true LOTR geek would have that para phrased reference locked and loaded at a time when your physical limits are tested.

  18. I'm a kiwi, been travelling the world for a few years now and haven't been able to get back because of COVID so just hanging out in central america atm. Every now and then I watch your clips when I'm missing home, gives me a good reminder of how great the country is. Awesome you got to have a proper kiwi experience.

  19. Thanks for doing justice to my home country. Now I am home sick. What a great group of friends you have, I wish I had gone to London when younger and found similar sorts of friends.

  20. Wow a glimpse of my grand parents when you were in Tokomaru Bay 💖 the man and lady on the window made me teary eyed thank you for appreciating our piece of paradise 🥰
