Misogi is a Japanese purification ritual where participants immerse themselves in cold often freezing water usually in winter.
This Misogi event took place in Shingu in the Kii Peninsula as part of their annual Oto Matsuri. The Misogi participants did their ritual ablutions in the sea which is probably what the earliest of Shintoists did as well.

Kinda like our version of the polar plunge around new years on tybee island and possibly other areas. Do females ever partake in these rituals?
Wow! Japanese is amazing!!
Dave, do you think that you could do it?
The 3 thumbs down are hilarious. Obviously some obsessed loser is butthurt. I guess this is the only way they can feel better about themselves. Thumbing down something like this is impotence in action. LOL.
