The Flåmsbana in Norway is one of the most beautiful train routes in the world! It’s steep, windy and travels through breathtaking landscapes with lakes, mountains and waterfalls like the spectacular Kjosfossen. DW reporter Axel Primavesi shows you the Flåmsbana and travels the just 20-kilometer-long route from the Myrdal station at 866 meters above sea level, down to the Aurlandsfjord.

Beautiful videography and drone work.
Another beautiful ride is also TranzAlpine train in New Zealand
3:12 The man says: "This is the most photographed attraction in Norway I think"….. Its not even close to being the most photographed attraction lol….
Incredibly beatiful! Thanks fot sharing 🙂
Soon to be vandalized by German windmills. Thank you mutti.
Been there. Luv it there😍
DW please find a reporter who can interview and talk good, thanks.
Splendid ! Norwegians are blessed ! Regards from Montreal, Canada.
u can bicycle down from the mountain too
Togbana frå Flåm og oppøve er veldig fin, med litt vel dyrt for lommeboka…
I had the opportunity to live here for almost four months as a German. This will forever change me.
I was in Flam for 5 days during the Summer. Everyday they had a different cruise ship arriving and lots of people around but when the ship leaves around 6 PM it is a kind of sad and quiet. It is a nice place to go with friends. I was there alone and couldn't find many people to talk.
Awesome that your putting this on the map! 🙂
Im a native Norwegian, born and raised in the capitol Oslo.
The social climate in the city can be both boring and stressful aswell as some of us city dwellers can sometimes have some trouble swallowing our pride for our city 😀 sometimes forgetting the "other" side of Norway.
Therefore, i spent some money on a roundtrip which included the Flåms-bane this summer 🙂
I took Bergensbanen to Myrdal (Where the line starts) and spent a night tenting at the edge looking down the Sognewalley. The next morning i took it down to Flåm 🙂 where my Norled katamaran awaited.
My next stop went trough the fjord to Balestrand, where you will find Kviknes hotel. This is a big tourist attraction with rich historical value. They even have Wilhelm 2s famous chair exhibited! 😉 I spent another night in my tent there.
It was then time for a second boatride at the fjord, also with Norled. In stark contrast to the Norled boats patrolling the fjord back home in Oslo, these had both TV which showed Tokyo Olympics and a awesome cafe (where i treated myself to a Vaffel <3 and some Brus!) 🙂 I was on my way to the "capitol" of the west", Bergen.
after about 6-7 hours i reached Byfjorden and could see the familiar silhuette of "Hansa-town".
Being supertired, i got some mcdonalds and sought refuge in my hotelroom near Bryggen. After a well 3-4 days of shopping and exploring i left Bergen for the Oily city of Stavanger. The family on my grandmothers side are all from Stavanger, a town ive hadnt been in since i was a kid with my grandmother guiding us and teaching us fascinating family history. Now that she is passed away (She would have been 100 years old this year) i made my stop here a sort of a tribute to her.
Last, but not least, i ended my trip with "The pearl of the South", Sørlandets perle, Kristiansand. Aquarama and Bystranden aswell as Markens were my favourites. I wanted to see the Cathedral but it was closed due to rona.
Cannot say i regret it 🙂
One word: trains in norway sucks, thats why everyone here owns a car
Its very nice, but it's not only the most beautiful train trip. It's also the most expensive. This short trip cost 60Euro…
Earlier this was normal government owned train and inexpensive, but now it's private owned and horrible expensive.
🇧🇻💓🇩🇰
I will definitely take a tour on Flamvsbana when I will go to Norway
Norway is famous for having 0 infrastructure, so seeing a train video in norway – wtf is this?
bottom half of norway? (before I've watched it)
Imagine an old slow, inefficient, uncomfortable, environmentally unfriendly train less than 10% full using 100x more energy than a Tesla per passenger kilometer and then talking about how wonderful it is. Hey DW work on getting Tesla Berlin open to save the planet.
Those trains look very familiar. Arent those the Re 460s, used by the SBB in Switzerland and in Hong kong?
🍇🎓
Flåm is pronounced "flom", not "flam".
This is good but you should see "Doodhsagar Waterfall" in India
Wish to go norway
Great video but you need to work on the proper pronunciation of Flåm 😉 Have taken the train between Oslo and Bergen several times and that ride is amazing as well but I have yet to take the side branch down to Flåm. I'd like to ride Rallarvegen down on a bicycle and then take the Flåms railroad up.
I travelled on this line in the depths of winter, with deep snow all around. It was a magical experience, would recommend definitely…
RailCowGirl have videos of Flåmbanan in different weather/seasons
When making such a montage it wouldn't be too much to ask to at least try to pronounce the actual name correctly. Think it at Flomsbana, and it will go much easier.
Super, but is this train driver lady the RailCowGirl with her magnificient videos???
Amazing.
China is more beautiful.
I love Norway
