This is so fun to watch knowing what Japanese people staying in Singapore feels. ^-^
Oh they should pay a visit to Lau Pasat at lunch time and be surprised that people save seats by putting just their name cards or staff pass.
Choping seats with tissue is a unique phenomenon but not something I would advocate. Personally, I don't care if someone leaves a tissue or key or whatever, I will just sit there if I'm carrying my food already. Especially so if I have my child with me.
If they don't want to sit with me, that's their problem, not my problem. It takes alot of guts and thick skin not to be bothered by stares or unfriendly words. So long as you can withstand those, please go ahead and sit at any empty seat

The pokka green tea is Jasmine tea… so it is not even Japanese type green tea.
In any case, all types of chinese and Japanese teas were not supposed to be sweetened.

I agree with the green tea commentary. I think hot green tea should never be sweet! But cold ones are good when sweet haha
by rules n rregulation is a must to carry out routine maintenance for public escalator/lifts
back in the 70's the coffee stall hawker use the milk can to dapao, only when the populations becomes like 3m/4m only then we start to get kopi dapao in plstic bag bcos there is no way we can get so many empty cans n also partly due to cost concern

vice versa, when i first visited japan i was like why all the bottled in tea of different all not sweet?
For non Chinese it's weird but, Calling strangers uncle auntie sister brother etc is not uniquely Singaporean. It's Chinese culture and in all Chinese society's people address strangers in that way. Just that in Singapore it's done in English.
Tip, I put the money elsewhere and go back to office to wash them lol. Do you mean in Japan you don’t get any scam calls? I am in Australia and get many such scam calls too
Ghib…if you see the escalator being fixed, it’s actually good. Means there is maintenance. I also love how the govt encourages people to exercise and eat healthily. I live in Australia and they don’t do that here. The best part about Australia is that the same construction site can be there for many years because I will see 1 or 2 workers working and 6 or 7 construction workers just standing around looking at them

Very nice clip to watch. There is many things foreign would have difficulties understanding if not native born. There are a lot things fast disappearing as well. If you think using plastic bags is difficult to understand … well its more common in the past but coffee can pack with the condense milk can as well. Why tea is sweet? Well in the past Singapore don't really have green tea and commonly tea have condense milk added. As for the word 'can'… the most used magic word in singapore and malaysia hahaha. It can use to represent almost anything and any situation but it's actually came from the chinese word which changed to english word over the years, I am also guilty of over using it. The main thing with why cold drinks cost more is due to electrical charge as they will need to use a freezer to get ice and thus that charge to customer. And sometimes it will cost more if asked for no or less ice… mainly fruit and sugar cane drink is due to quantity of the drink itself. There are at many things I can't recall now but still great to watch.

Interesting session. Rimi-san is right about the dollar bill is sticky or wet, I usually have to use wet tissue to clean before keeping it. For bottled green tea, there are non-sugar version from Pokka also.
This was a lot of fun & the restaurant looks so good! As for the Merlion, the original one (I saw in 1982) located in a different place was disappointing tbh.
Some are common in other Asian countries such as sweet green tea, liquid in plastic bags. I always fought with American colleagues over the temperature of aircon.

Gihb, you should try your kopi in a bag. Hits different. I think it is more convenient for taxi drivers as they can hang it on their signal stock, etc
Hahhaha the point on why we use auntie, uncle, bro, sis rather than excuse me is because we more often than not, use excuse me when we are slightly less happy with a stranger. Example: in a crowded bus and there's abit of space to move in and somebody is reluctant to move in, we would say "hello excuse me can move in abit" ちょっと上から目線という時もつかわれてるんですけどねw so yeah auntie, uncle bro, sis is abit more endearing.
for the drinks in plastic bag, this is usually sold my cheaper stalls, like even in indo you get this like at a stall on the street.
hahaha escalators require maintenance because too many people ride it daily, and according to engineers, most escalators are not build for people to walk up and down when the escalators are operating so the parts get worn out faster.

Ice kopi is more expensive is for purpose of recovering the relevant costs incurred to produce the ice including the cost of the fridge and utility, mainly. But don't know how they came up with SGD 0.30 per item – they must have been supported by very good management accountants 😅

totally laughed out loud at the wet hair folks. maybe they think the wetness can keep them cool for a bit longer since it's damn hot outside. also got ignored many times by buses zooming past me despite sticking my arm out fully to flag early on. and some drivers really brake very abruptly multiple times in a short distance, i never understood how they got that habit. green tea here has had exact same comments from japanese expats even twenty years ago 😹
