During the Edo Period, all of the feudal lords living around the country were required to alternate living in their local regions and Edo (modern-day Tokyo). This was to prevent regional lords from accumulating wealth.
They had to travel with hundreds of retainers as well, which benefitted the various post towns along the travel routes and the many inns located there.
The Yazu area of Tottori developed around Chizu Town, which flourished as one of these post towns.
In Mitakien, there are the restaurant housed in six different buildings each with unique characteristics and a café. The entire premise is ideal for about 15 minutes’ stroll with the sounds of stream in the background.
You can enjoy the blessings from Yamazato (mountain village) of Ashizu, local district Chizu-cho while enjoying a sense of the season.
The Ishitani Residence has many historical buildings built in each period from the end of the Edo period to the Showa period.
