This is a collection of moments from a hiking trip to Cervinia, in the Italian Alps.
Cervinia is located at the end of Aosta Valley, next to Monte Cervino (Italy) or Matterhorn (Swizerland). Matterhorn dominates the views in the valley and can be seen on several guided day hikes that we participated in.
During the week we hiked around Aosta valley in different locations. On some mornings we started from the hotel, on others the trailhead was a short bus drive away from Cervinia. All hikes were planned and guided by STS travel agency and local mountain guides (thanks Pinja and Enrico!). On most hikes we stopped for a lunch at a rifugio; on single occasion we carried a simple lunch.
Weather was wildly varying from sunshine to a surprise thunderstorm over our heads. 2000 meter altitude made the initial days quite challenging for people normally living at sea level, but hiking got progressively easier as the week wore on.
