Russell Gackenbach was a second lieutenant aircraft navigator and photographer who flew into the heart of Japan on Aug. 6, 1945 and filmed the dropping of “Little Boy” on Hiroshima. Little Boy was a 9000 pound U-235 atomic bomb, the first ever used in warfare.

Unfortunately, the phrase "I was just following orders" is still used to this day. It's also hard to believe the aircraft that dropped it was able to maintain flight after the detonation. If someone is able to explain this phenomenon, I'm interested in learning more.

Japan was trying to take over other territories at the time… they hit Pearl Harbor to stop the USA from stopping their plans… needless to say it didn’t work.
