Overview of the international to international transfer/transit experience at Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) Terminal 2 in December 2021. Terminal 2 is primarily used by Japan Airlines and its Oneworld partners like American Airlines, Finnair, Malaysian Airlines, and Qatar Airways.
At the time of filming, only very few people could enter Japan and the country was closed for tourism. In typical Japanese fashion, the transfer process was very efficient, well organized, and coordinated.
Before attempting to transit through Tokyo Narita (NRT) or Tokyo Haneda (HND), there are specific requirements that need to be followed. Most importantly, you must be eligible to enter Japan if your connecting flight requires a change of airport between Narita and Haneda or vice versa.

I hope this restrictions will be terminated next year i will have an stopover for 10 hours and i would like to see a bit of the city. We should learn to live with this virus and go on
I have a flight to Canada from the Philippines and I have a layover in NRT but I am arriving NRT terminal 2 and will be departing at NRT Terminal 1. Is changing terminal permitted?
Hi! I have a flight Montreal to NRT with Air Canada and then NRT to ICN with Korean Air (2 separate purchases/tickets), the departure flight is in Terminal 2 the same as my arrival at NRT. And the layover is 1h25 mins. Can I proceed to my gate with the Transfer process in the video or do I need to go through security check ? (I'm only traveling with carry-on, no checked luggage). * I signed up for automated check in with Korean air so I'd automatically have my boarding pass 24hrs before my connecting flight.

I’m going to Japan from USA with a business visa (I am flying ZipAir) and after I planning to visit family in Vietnam (flying VietJet). Wait I have an important question. Is it possible to change airports from HRN to NRT (vise versa) if it is a connecting flight? I heard that due to travel restrictions Japan during this time, you are not allowed to change airpods even though it is a connecting flight.

Great video. One question. I am going from JFK to Bangkok and connecting in Haneda (16 hour layover). Do you know if they require a covid test just for a transit passenger? I'm not going to leave the area of course, just like you did here.
Great i only have a 1hr and 20 min layoverin narita, if my Honolulu flight leaves on time! Has anyone made that tight of a connection? Id be so angry if they turned me around and didnt wait for me, i sure hope the flight waits! How long was that line? Will they expedite the urgent connections? Any info appreciated? And also no test for transit or flying jal?
Does JAL require a covid test to just fly their airline? I heard some airlines you need to test!

I am flying with zipair from LAX to NRT where I have a self transfer and an 18 hour layover. Then I fly with the same airline to ICN in Korea.
I have no checked in luggage, but I’m afraid I would still have to go through customs and I’m assuming they will disregard that I am going to Korea within 24 hours and deny me travel even though I do not plan to leave the NRT airport.
Is it possible to have a transfer through NARITA airport with two different airlines and checked luggage? I will be flying from LAX through NRT to ICN (Korea) and I have checked luggage. Will it be required to go out of the "transit area" to get my checked luggage?
Hiii..my flight is from Toronto, Canada to Vietnam in November 2022 and have to transit in NRT for 2 hours and 10 minutes. My question is: Does Vietnam still require a negative PCR test to enter and does NRT require negative PCR test to transit for a few hours? I’m fully vaccinated. Thank you.
Thanks for the thorough video. It seems that any checked luggage is automatically transferred to your connection and there is no need to retrieve and recheck them.

Thanks for the video. Do you know what extra steps are required it transferring to a non partner airline? I'm flying to NRT from DFW via JAL and was looking to get to BKK via ZipAir or Thai Airways? I'm guessing I'd have to get bags from baggage claim, re check them, and transfer terminals but would I have to go through customs therefore requiring a visa?

If I have a long (14 hour) layover, but it's all the same day between 7am and 9pm, is that allowed? And are the airside rooms (hotel-like, with bed and shower) open and available? It would be on JAL flights Delhi-Narita, then Narita-Honolulu.

I depart Manila on Feb. 19, 2023. With the transit restrictions where they are now, is my return flight even possible??
