Istanbul, Turkey – En route to Zagreb, Croatia to embark on a three-week road trip across the country, I had an 8-hour layover at the Istanbul Airport (IGA).

I arrived at midnight and didn’t leave Istanbul until 8am the next morning, so I wanted to get some sleep in the airport. I heard about the IGA Sleepods, so I made it my mission to get some sleep.

Turns out, it was harder than I expected to reserve one of the IGA Sleepods so I give a full IGA Lounge tour while I pass the time.

The Istanbul Airport layover experience is wild because it is a massive hub with a ton of shops, facilities and food venues.

I actually chose my flight based on the Istanbul Airport layover because of how interesting this city and airport are.

    The old airport had the best lounge in the world. The new airport, been there a couple of times and I hope never to come back again

    Egg peeling advice: crack the flatty tip of the egg. Thatโ€™s where the air pocket is. It makes it easier to peel off the thin membrane from the egg white.

    The borek you ate is โ€œsu boregiโ€. (Water Borek)

    I got really pissed because they offer free drinking water at the international terminal but not at the domestic terminal.

    I really enjoy traveling and your video does not have much cosmetics, plan and simple. Nice! Made me feel like I was traveling again. Well then I had some Vodka watching this in a foreign country. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘ Lot of baklava in Azerbaijan too ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ. I love this country.

    Wow I was there in 2019 when the the airport just opened most shops were still closed they were still fitting shelves etc in some. can't believe all the stores they have now and the pods…. that does look bit claustrophobic though…

    Aaaah, bad service at the pod desk, consistent with the usual lack of consideration and poor efficiency in that part of the world. Your traveling will be a much better experience, once you get under way to Croatia.

    The trip will seem nicer, with Istanbul in the rear view mirror.

    Itโ€™s difficult to understand the crap they try to peddle to people who are desperate for rest and refreshment. They are shamelessly exploiting people as they always do in these situations.

    I have stayed in the capsule hotel at Narita Airport in Japan. Much more full service and all inclusive. It was about $30 USD and well worth it. When confronted with a long layover, some sleep and a shower is worth their weight in gold (or in your case Baklava). Thank you for this!

    Basic bitch pods,rip off,they should be total blackout,better noise suppression,temp control with air exchanger,and small shelf to lay phone whilst on charge….just look at state of the world,nobody cares yet they all want your money for next to nothing provided…bloody disgrace!

    I'm really confused are you by yourself? If so then how does the camera make it outside the pod to "watch you wake up"?

    I can't imagine that pod…too many non-cleanable surfaces that have been sneezed and coughed upon, not to mention the claustrophobic conditions.

    Sad story- my daughter came back from visiting her Turkish grandparents in June. Her checked baggage didnโ€™t arrive until 30 days later- got stuck in Frankfurt. We had to throw away the 2 kilos of baklava she had bought to share with friends & family. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜ข

    jajajajaj Gareth not you almost wiping out in the stall!! What I have learnt is service around the world can be very very different from what I am used to either in Mexico or in the states, I try not to blame them since they could be having a terrible day. But it is a blessing to be able to having access to some of these facilities with priority pass! I just started using mine and been enjoying the benefits that comes with it!! Enjoy your trip!
