► “Momo” means peach in Japanese, and as Okayama prefecture is particularly famous for it’s delicious peach production, Momo Okaden soon became the nickname of Okayama Electric Tramway.

The company was founded in 1910, while their first tram line opened in 1912. With just 4.7 km track in total, this tram line is known to be one of the shortest in Japan.

I took a short ride on it, and was lucky enough to ride one of the oldest tramcars in service, it was a fun contrast to Japan’s otherwise very modern train system. – Enjoy!

  1. Brilliant video Thomas! Brings back many memories of when I was little and my mom and I rode the tram. Especially the last one with only one headlight. And then of course if you go to San Francisco,it's a must to ride them as the ones they use now are all vintage from all over the states.
