Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden ( 新宿御苑 ) is a large garden in Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo. The area of the garden is 58.3 hectares with a circumference of 3.5 km, blending three distinct landscaping styles: French, English and Japanese with a Japanese green house within.
The garden is a favourite hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) spot, and large crowds are expected to gather during cherry blossom season. You can find in the video one of the finest cherry blossom trees in Tokyo.
In the background is Tokyo’s fourth tallest building, the NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building, standing tall and reminding that the garden is situated in one of the world’s busiest districts, Shinjuku, which is the largest city in Tokyo.
While we admire the beautiful garden, don’t forget to admire its gardeners too……(here one of them dressed in turquoise pushing a bike). For the garden is only as good as the intrinsic, artistic qualities of its gardeners.
