The Iida Line runs between Toyohashi in Aichi Prefecture & Tatsuno in Nagano Prefecture.
It is an interesting line because of the many secluded Hikyo stations, many of which can only be reached easily by train, and the amount of time it takes to travel its 195.7km – 7 hours by local train!
Age line is fully electrified (1500v DC) and single line throughout except the section between Toyohashi and Toyokawa, but there are a number of stations with passing lines. JR Tokai 373 series is used to operate the Limited Express Inaji (Toyohashi~Iida) and 213 and 313 series trains for local services. JR East (Nagano Branch) 211s are also used for local services between Iida and Tatsuno (and onward to Okaya and Chino).
