The Kokura Castle is surrounded by almost 30,000 bamboo lanterns which produce nice illumination that invite the people to visit the castle to see its beauty at night from October 23rd to October 31st. Bamboos from the abandoned forest of the city were used in making the lanterns.
Elementary school students were some of the volunteers who helped in making the lanterns. Some bamboos were creatively carved to make unique designs to welcome the athletes and spectators of the international gymnastics event which was just held in Kitakyushu City.
