Today, I’m heading up to Mount Akagi to check out the ice fishing on Onuma Lake in Gunma. Luckily, it was the first day of the fishing season so we were able to see some action, kinda. Everyone was huddled inside their tent so we couldn’t really see what was going on inside but, we got there around 2:30 and people were already packing up so it gave us a chance to see inside their tent. One guy talked with us for a little bit and showed us his fish he caught. We explore the area for a little bit but not for long, it was so windy and cold up there we didn’t stay long. After freezing our a**es off on the lake we stopped inside a little souvenir shop for some hot mushroom tea and to say hello to the owner. I had actually went up to Akagi a few days before to check out he ice fishing but the ice wasn’t thick enough to fish on yet… so the shop owner recognized me from the time before. I’m happy to see she was busy today and people renting the gear from her shop.
