The Japanese volcano Sakurajima, located on the southernmost main island of Kyushu, has begun an eruption and is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
The volcano is located off the coast of the city of Kagoshima
with a population of about 600 thousand people. Due to its explosive potential, Sakurajima is considered a very dangerous volcano, so meteorologists carefully monitor it. Its largest eruptions occurred between 1471 and 1476 and also in 1914.
Last week, scientists warned of a possible imminent eruption of the Sakurajima volcano. At this stage, there is no large seismic activity in the region, so there are no plans to evacuate the population. But they ask you to be very careful and not miss the signal about the evacuation if it is carried out.
