In particular, “Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen made him a letter confirming that he had voluntarily stayed under the pillow – that is, an official loyal to God”.

In 1619, Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen decided to marry his adopted daughter, Princess Ngoc Hoa, to this talented Japanese merchant. But a year later, Mr. Araki brought his wife back to Japan to settle in Nagasaki, gave birth to a daughter and together set up a commercial center at Motoshikhui – Machi in Nagasaki.

The wedding of Princess Ngoc Hoa opened up a stronger trade and friendship relationship between Japan and ancient Annam. Princess Ngoc Hoa is very much loved and respected by the Japanese people. 15 years later, Mr. Araki died, Ngoc Hoa continues to do bookkeeping at her husband’s business.
