Japanese beer expert Leo takes Shizuka to three of his favorite spots for craft beer in Osaka.
Their first stop is Beer Belly, a brewpub that makes and serves Minoh beer. In addition to the yuzu beer, Shizuka orders their camembert cheese beer fritters and beer gelato.
The next stop is Brewpub Center Point which boasts a reasonably priced nomihoudai (all-you-can-drink) party course that comes with food. Here, they go for the Kyoto sour ale that is flavored with sour plum and apricot. At Brewpub Center Point, the beer is brewed on-site and the menu consists of American-style BBQ like brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chili mac ‘n cheese.
At the final stop, Craft Beer Base Bud, they serve both international and Japanese craft beer. One of the most popular craft beer bars in Osaka, this taproom is central to the local beer community. Shizuka and Leo try the peppermint cream ale and deep-fried gyoza.
