Cherry Blossoms of the Yamazaki River (Yamazakigawa no Sakura)
Designated as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom viewing spot, over 2km of Nagoya’s Yamazaki River is lined on both sides with large, lush cherry trees, and the walkway along the enjoyment. During the days when the blossoming reaches its peak, a section of the length is lit up with artificial illumination, turning the place into a wonderful sight even on evenings.
Strolling a 2.5 kilometer stretch of the Yamazaki River, you will find more than 600 beautiful cherry blossom trees, stretching out across the pathway and dipping their branches toward the river surface below.
Although the riverside is at its peak popularity during the hanami season, it is a beautiful spot at any time of the year, as the name of the main promenade, the Shikinomichi or “Path of Four Seasons,” suggests.
Access is easy, the best access to the riverside is via Mizuho Undojo Nishi Station, 20 minutes away from Nagoya Station on the Sakura dori subway line and 15 minutes walk from Mizuho Kuyakusho Station.
