Hiroshima has a shopping center with an escalator that extends to the top of the mountain.
Having heard this story from a Japanese friend, we were intrigued and headed for the shopping center with the long escalator.
When we arrived at Danbara Shopping Center, we looked for the escalator.
The escalator was located in the parking lot and really connected the shopping center to the mountaintop.
When we arrived at the summit, we found a manga library, the Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art under renovation, and a park in the mountain where many Japanese were enjoying themselves, barbecuing and singing songs while admiring the cherry blossoms.
Next time, I would like to return with a barbecue set.
